Der Massstab von 1:20,32 ergibt sich daher aus der Spurweite von 3-Fuss, 914,4 mm, geteilt durch 20,32 = exakt 45 mm.<\/p><p>Normalspur, Standard Gauge: \u00a0im Original 1&#8217;435 mm. Zu finden bei Bahnanlagen, auf denen Standard- und Narrow Gauge Rollingstock kombiniert verkehrt. Haupts\u00e4chlich die Weichen sind recht aufwendig, mit zwei\nHerzst\u00fccken, drei Zungen und einem l\u00e4ngeren \u00abSchienenkreuz\u00bb bei der\nSchmalspur-Schiene (siehe obiges Bild von Alamosa). <o:p><\/o:p><\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">Im Grundsatz lag das daran, dass die D&amp;RG Bahngesellschaft\nurspr\u00fcnglich, bei der Gr\u00fcndung 1870, praktisch ausschliesslich auf die 3 Fuss\nSchmalspur setzte. Die Schmalspur wurde aufgrund der geringeren Baukosten und\nder schnelleren Bauzeit gew\u00e4hlt. Eigentlich wollte der Gr\u00fcnder der Rio Grande\nRailroad, General William Jackson Palmer, Denver CO mit Mexico verbinden. Bei\nder geplanten Streckenf\u00fchrung \u00fcber den Raton Pass in New Mexico geriet er aber\nmit der AT&amp;SF, der Santa Fe Railroad, in einen massiven Konflikt. Drei\nJahre \u00abKrieg\u00bb mit Revolverhelden und korrupten Politiker hatten zur Folge, dass\ndie AT&amp;SF die Stecke \u00fcber den Raton Pass bauen konnte und General Palmer\nsich vorerst gegen Westen wenden musste. Der einsetzende Bergbau-Boom mit dem\nAbbau von verschiedensten Mineralien in ganz Colorado hat f\u00fcr diese Entscheidung\nwohl den Ausschlag gegeben. <o:p><\/o:p><\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">In der Folge entstand ein weit verzweigtes Bahnnetz in 3-Fuss\nNarrow Gauge, westw\u00e4rts erschlossen einmal ab Pueblo durch die Royal Gorge nach\nSalida und Leadville. Weiter \u00fcber den Tennessee Pass Richtung Nordwesten mit\nZiel Glenwood Springs. Sodann eine zweite Linie westw\u00e4rts ab Walsenburg\n(s\u00fcdlich von Pueblo) \u00fcber den La Veta Pass nach Alamosa. Diese Railroad-Town\nliegt zentral in der s\u00fcdlichen Hochebene von Colorado. Alamosa entwickelte sich\nzu einem Bahnzentrum mit einer Strecke nordwestw\u00e4rts Richtung Creede und s\u00fcdw\u00e4rts\nnach Antonito. In Antonito sodann verzweigte sich die Bahnlinie. S\u00fcdwestlich\n\u00fcber den Cumbres Pass nach Chama NM und Richtung Durango. Und Richtung S\u00fcden mit\nZiel Santa Fe, der sogenannten \u00abChili-Line\u00bb. Wie erw\u00e4hnt, urspr\u00fcnglich alles in\nSchmalspur 3- Fuss (Spurweite 914 mm). <o:p><\/o:p><\/p><p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">Bereits ab der Jahrhundertwende 1900 begann D&amp;RG (Denver &amp;\nRio Grande, das W f\u00fcr \u00abWestern\u00bb fehlte damals noch), die Hauptstrecken auf\nNormalspur umzubauen. Dies vorallem aufgrund der h\u00f6heren Transportkapazit\u00e4t der\nNormalspur-Wagen und nat\u00fcrlich auch, da nach und nach in der ganzen USA ein\nweit verzweigtes Bahnnetz in Standard Gauge entstand. Jedoch die\nSchmalspurstrecke \u00fcber den Cumbres Pass und die Chili-Line verblieben in Narrow\nGauge. Die Folge davon war, dass vorallem in Alamosa, aber auch in Antonito das\nG\u00fcter-Transportgut umgeschlagen werden musste. Zudem war Antonito quasi eine\nsogenannte Helper Station, wo eine zus\u00e4tzliche Dampflok in die Z\u00fcge \u00fcber den\nCumbres-Pass in der Mitte einrangiert wurde. Um die Flexibilit\u00e4t des\nBahnbetriebes in Alamosa und auch in Antonito zu erh\u00f6hen, wurden\nsinnvollerweise Dual Gauge Tracks eingebaut. Zeitepoche gem\u00e4ss obigem Bild um 1955. In Antonito existierten damals verschiedene Geb\u00e4ude und Anlagen, die sich f\u00fcr einen Nachbau im Modell sehr gut eignen. Vom Water Tank bis zum Depot. Dieser k\u00e4ufliche Kit hat jedoch die Spurweiten 64\/45 mm, sodass nat\u00fcrlich eine Spurerweiterung der Normalspur auf 70,64 mm notwendig wurde.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Die Schwellen sind aus Fichtenholz in unterschiedlichen H\u00f6hen, damit die Weiche gem\u00e4ss dem Original-Bild von Alamosa am Anfang dieses Berichtes nachgebildet werden kann.
